AGE 55 or over? Would you like to know what to do if someone sold you counterfeit goods or where to go to get some advice about fire safety or home security?
Designed with you in mind, a Community Safety Day will be taking place on Thursday, September 17, at TASS, The Anchorage Centre in Tavistock.
The day will run from 11am until 3pm, and will offer all sorts of advice and information to older people to help them feel safer in their homes.
The event includes practical tips and advice from Devon Trading Standards and Consumer Direct, crime prevention and fire officers on a wide range of home safety issues, from dealing with bogus callers to fitting a smoke alarm.
There will also be the chance to take part in a 'You be the Judge' session, where the audience will be taken through real criminal trial cases and then given the opportunity to vote on the sentence. This session comes complete with a panel of experts who will explain the real life outcomes of those trials.
Although primarily aimed at the 55 or over age group, anyone with an elderly relative, or neighbour, who needs help is welcome.
The event is free, and lunch will also be provided free of charge.
