Okehampton Colts 5 Crediton Colts 7 OKEHAMPTON and Crediton Colts put on a display of commitment and close support rugby on a heavy pitch. Both defences tackled superbly, particularly Okehampton in the second half where they soaked up long periods of pressure denying Crediton any points. Tom Powell and Ben Woolams on the wings both fielded box kicks retaining possession under extreme pressure. Crediton were first on the score sheet with a driving maul from a 10m line out leading to a converted try. Okehampton?s forwards worked hard all game causing Crediton to give away penalties and hence field position. The visitors defence however was sound and they ended the first half 7-0 in the lead. Crediton brought on an excellent number 8 at half time who initially caused a few problems but the home side soon shackled him ? particularly replacement scrum half Gary Sizmur and the back row trio. Okehampton then had a good period with ball flashed to the wing and recycled. Crediton gave away a penalty and Sam Turner took it quickly popping the pass to Captain Luke Webb on the burst who broke through for a unconverted try. The visitors then put on a textbook display of forward rucking and mauling, expecting to break down the home defence who seemed shackled in their own 22. The tackling was outstanding with guards on either side of the rucks driving the ball carrier backwards. Time ran out for Okehampton but all the players should be proud of their efforts in providing a tense entertaining match.
