Okehampton Columbines 1
Chudleigh 2
THIS was a game Okehampton ladies? hockey team were capable of winning, but they played with a lack of commitment.
Things started well with a number of runs down the right wing by Jo Moppett opening up Chudleigh?s defence.
Okehampton took an early lead when the ball fell to Viv Weatherington who flicked it over the
fallen goalkeeper.
But Columbines never really got to grips with their game plan and allowed Chudleigh to dominate the midfield.
They were under sustained pressure and Chudleigh equalised from a well-taken short corner just before half-time.
Despite the efforts of halves Alex Collins and Jane Jones, Columbines could not pick out their forwards and were gradually being pushed back into defence.
The second goal for Chudleigh soon came when a good strike was deflected in off the post.
Okehampton did have a considerable amount of play but they never really created clear cut goal-scoring chances and failed to convert from the many penalty corners the Chudleigh defence conceded.
This week Okehampton are away in the league to St Agnes.
