Tavistock 3

Penzance 5

Due to a crash on the A30 Penzance were delayed by half an hour, but this delay did not not hamper the away hockey team. Despite an early goal from the visitors Tavistock started to bond and build more plays. After a peroid of continous passing, Josh dribbled past the opposition and swept the ball past a sprawling keeper and into the net to equalise. However, just before half time Penzance scored again from a short corner and had a further goal disallowed.

Despite a positive team talk at half time for the home side Penzance managed to score three more from open play and short corners. Tavistock were down to 10 men due to a yellow card for Paul Maarchant. Captain Damian managed to squeak the ball through the keeper's legs to close the gap and make it 2-5 and soon after Lloyd scored from a short corner to make it 3-5 but time ran out for the home team.

PGSOB C 3

TAVISTOCK thirds fielded a makeshift team, blending youth with experience, to face a tough PGSOB's squad from Plymouth.

Within the first seconds of the game the visitors opened the scoring with a flowing move which stunned the home side. Stung into action, Tavistock started to gel. Chris Monger's aerial balls caused havoc with the opposition, leading to a fine goal from Stannier to draw level. In midfield Dom Stanbury and Richards provided some excellent passes and link play but PGSOB started to press and gained several short corners - converting from one of these just before the end of the half.

Acting coach Phil Edward encouraged the team and Tavistock started the second half brightly. PGSOB's fought back and a wicked aerial shot nearly felled Tosdevin in defence. After receiving medical attention the acting captain resumed play and the game developed into a flowing end to end tussle. Repeated attacks from the visitor's were thwarted by Mason and Cowie, but they were not to be denied their third. Tavistock remained committed inspite of Richards being sent to the sin bin. Sam Stanbury and Cowie were outstanding in defensive midfield. Stannier and Tomlin made dashing attacks down the right wing and Dubey provided creative flair up front. Tavistock never gave up, but PGSOB's defence was rock solid.
