Okehampton 3
Dart A 3
OKEHAMPTON hosted the second placed team in the knowledge that a win would lift them above their opponents.
Starting positively, the home side attacked with purpose and created a couple of chances which they were unable to take. Both sides were playing nice quick hockey and it was the visitors who scored first with a flowing move. They then doubled the advantage by hitting Oke on the break and giving themselves a 2-0 lead.
Not too downhearted, the home side pressed, looking for a way back into the match and they found it when they won a short corner. Mark Parsons' shot was turned away past the goalkeeper by Simon Bourne.
As the first half came to an end Dart managed another breakaway goal to restore their two goal lead, and Okehampton looked down and out at half time.
Once the second half began the home side did everything they could to break Dart down, the away side looking to hold on to what they had. However, Okehampton then had a break and Parsons raced onto Bourne's through ball and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Time was running out for the most unlikely of comebacks, and with just five minutes to go Okehampton threw everything at Dart.
Bourne missed a great opportunity, but eventually their pressure paid off and the ball fell to Parsons in the area and his shot hit both posts before crossing the line to give them the equaliser they deserved. This was a brilliant match which neither side deserved to lose and a fair result.
The Okehampton man of the match was James Speak
