WEST Devon walkers have been invited to take part in the annual sponsored Midnight Madness walk across Dartmoor next month. The Fishermen's Mission charity has invited walkers to join them on their third circular walk of approximately 14 miles. The event starts at 9pm on Saturday, July 19 from Walkhampton and, depending on stamina and ability, will take around five to six hours. By taking part in the charity walk, participants will be helping the Fishermen's Mission to continue its work of caring for shipwrecked and injured fishermen, and supporting the widows and children of fishermen lost at sea in the West Country. The walk will be supervised and organised by the Plymouth team of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue. Gina Moore, regional fundraiser for the charity, said: 'We want to encourage as many people as possible to join us on this exciting and unusual charity walk — thus helping us to raise much needed funds.'
