WHITCHURCH ladies? cricket team played their first game of the season last Sunday against Babbacombe.
Home team Whitchurch scored 245 with Cathy Griffin reaching 44, Lesley Smith 42, Jenny Kay 32, Gaynor Pollard 35 no and Ang Hunt 22 no.
Babbacombe, playing with only eight, managed 97 all out in reply. Wickets were taken by Jo Austin (2), Laura Armstrong (3), Cathy Griffin (2) and Janet Simmons. These were backed up by secure fielding from Josie Gerhold, Gillian Northey and Ali Evans.
Thanks were expressed to Steve Hodge who umpired for the day and who also coaches the team.
