IN an attempt to recruit more Special Constabulary Volunteers in the Tavistock area, a 'Meeting of the Specials' event will be held on Monday, January 9 from 7pm to 8pm, following the success of a recruiting evening held in Okehampton last month.

The event will be an opportunity for anyone interested in joining the Special Constabulary to meet serving Special Constables in an informal way, and will explain about recruiting and joining the service.

Anybody interested can attend the event at Tavistock Police Station where they will be introduced to the team. The evening is not solely for Tavistock but for any residents of West Devon who may be interested.

The Devon and Cornwall Constabulary is opening up recruitment for the Special Constabulary on January 3 until January 24.
