Exeter Saracens U12s 0

North/Okes U12s 40

THIS was an impressive win for the combined side. The handling and interchange were good and the defence secure.

With some players missing, many were playing out of position. One was Darcy Heard who, having moved from inside centre to hooker, flattened anyone who came near him, and with the help of the rest of the forwards, Will Hawking, Robert Stepto, James Speak and Merrick Kirby, took many scrums against the head.

Kevin Dennis opened the scoring, with tries from Andrew North and James Ewen in the first half to go in 19-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw the visitors raise their game and camped in the Saracens? half much of the time. Tries came from Luke Miller, James Speak and Hawking, with Stepto coming close to scoring as well. North kicked five conversions.

This was a good team performance, with all six tries scored by different players.

This week, training at North Tawton Friday evening and a match against Tavistock on Sunday at Okehampton.

IN an entertaining game both sides played some good rugby.

North/Okes gained the upper hand when Jordan Lee crashed over the line to open the scoring.

Poor tackling enabled Exeter Saracens to draw level. From the restart Peter Gillard kicked long for Lee to put pressure on the defence to enable Gillard to score.

The North/Okes back were harassing their opposite players and forcing errors. This led to tries from Sam Robertson, Peter Gillard and Jordan Lee.

The second half saw Saracens dominate scrums, but Sam Robertson spoiling ball at the base of scrum and good tackling by Tom Gill and William Lethbridge, kept them out.

Tom Gill scored the final try with a solo run from inside his own half. Jordan Lee converted all six tries.

OKEHAMPTON/North Tawton outplayed Saracens in every department. Their passing was excellent, as was their support play.

With two sets of identical twins on the field at the same time the referee might have become muddled but the Lee twins, Keiran and Ryan, bagged a try each as did Ollie Francis, Daniel Foggerty and Callum Mallett. Twins Luke and Jake had some excellent runs, proving a real asset in only their second game.
