Exeter Saracens U11s 7

THIS was North/Okes? last game of the season. With a full complement it was possible to try out players in different positions. Darcy Heard and Andrew North moved into the forwards and James Speak and Merick Kirby transferred into the threequarters with Sam Robertson taking the flyhalf role.

Darcy Heard opened the scoring for North/Okes after gaining quick possession from a ruck. The ball was slipped via Tom Dean to Heard to jinx his way over to score, North kicking the conversion.

The second try came from inside North/Okes? own half. James Ewen picked quick ball from the base of a scrum, passing to Sam Robertson who made an excellent break down the blind side/. He passed to James Speak who in turn passed to North who forced his way over to score. Converted by North.

From a ruck just inside Saracens? own half Andrew Fishleigh started a rolling maul and slipped the ball to Will Hawkins who powered his way over for a well deserved try.

The second half saw Saracens come back with a well taken try and conversion. North/Okes kept up the pressure with excellent tackling from Cameron Rickerby, Luke Miller and Bill Sharp.

The players and coaches expressed thanks to all the parents for their help and support throughout this successful first year of the combined North/Okes U11s.

The North Okes players are Will Hawkins, Andrew Fishliegh, Chris Reynolds, Merrick Kirby, James Speak, Tom Dean, James Ewen, Andrew North, Darcy Heard, Cameron Rickerby, Kevin Dennis, Samantha Robertson, Bill Sharp, Luke Miller and Jack Clutterbuck.

SARACENS took the early lead but Oke/NT came back with tries from Will Cooper and Ollie Francis.

Dominic Wooldridge caught a long pass from Johnathen Aylen but was tagged just short of the line.

Saracens had some good strong runners but Giles Heard outpaced them on the wing to level the score of an exciting game.

OKE/NT played some excellent supporting rugby with good runs from Ben Sharp. With Lewis Taylor on his shoulder it enabled Richard Hann to score the opening try. Lewis Day and Pat Ewen played well in defence.

Lack of concentration let the game slip away until Callum Mallett was in for a definite try but was helped into touch just before the line.

Training Friday nights at the club until the end of the month.

NORTH/Okes took a long time to get going, allowing Saracens to score two early tries. Poor

defending let them go over for another then North/Okes woke up and started to attack, resulting in a good break and Jordan Lee scoring.

Saracens started well in the second half, scoring quickly. Martyn Hann, Mike Heard and Jack Stanbury worked hard to win good ball but against a bigger pack had to survive off scraps.

A decisive break by Peter Gillard led to him running the length of the pitch to score a fine try but Saracens regrouped and came back to score again.

THIS was a hard fought game with hard tackling and great passing. There was good play but the greater strength and sharper passing led to Okehampton coming out on top.

A good run by Matthew Johns led to him scoring. A great game by Tom Fogerty and Sam Ewen led to some good moves out wide.

A Sam Ewen move almost enabled Ollie Kirby to score under the posts. Good tackling by Felix Gardner, Henry Cooper and Graham Bennie and the rest of the team kept Saracens at bay and after good driving and stripping by Buster Francis and Lloyd Heard,Thomas White scored a breakaway try.

George Speak?s good running kept the spectators on their toes.

Okehampton U12s 21

THIS was the last game of the season away to a massive Exeter Saracens pack. Okehampton were short of Robert Long with a knee injury and Ricci Cobb ill, and had to borrow a Saracens player for the second row.

Saracens started well, driving into the Okehampton pack and getting close to the try-line. Mason Whittle at full-back tackled a Saracens forward, stripped him of the ball and ran up the wing, breaking three tackles to score. Saracens replied just before half-time to level the score.

The second half started with Saracens scoring again and their forwards driving well, but Scott Simpson and Richard Friend tackled tirelessly, with Stuart Bennie and Alex Wooldridge backing them up well.

From a crunching tackle close to the Okehampton try line Saracens lost the ball. Mason picked it up and again sprinted up the wing to score.

From the restart Tom McGratton caught the ball and drove into the Saracens? forwards. Quick ruck ball came back to Will Heard who passed to Tom Browne, on to James Heard who fed Mason, coming into the line to beat the defence to score a textbook try. Tom Browne converted all three tries.

Will Heard had a good game, being quick on any loose ball.

Saracens scored again at the end to level the score.

This week the squad travel to Gloucester to watch Gloucester play Newcastle.
