OKEHAMPTONC olumbines Hockey Club have still to win a game this season which was the motivation that kept them battling on against Beaminster.
As with all of their games, the match was close. Okehampton were slow off the mark in the first half which led to Beaminster having some good attacking play.
Okehampton's defence were solid throughout with Jude Grant and Rene Brown playing well and making some goal saving tackles.
Beaminster's goal was scored in the first half, when a penalty flick was rewarded after goalkeeper Paule Gibbs accidentally used the back of her stick to clear the ball off the goaline.
The Columbines kept fighting with brilliant inter-locking play throughout the forwards, which provided chances to score.
Alex Collins and Julia Stone created runs on both sides of the pitch leaving Beaminster's defence open and desperate. Through this play, penalty short corners were rewarded to Okehampton who took full advantage with Sue Stanbury striking a pefect hit from on top of the circle into the right hand corner of the goal.
