Exeter 3

Okehampton Columbines 4

THIS was another good attacking game from Okehampton ladies' hockey club.

Player of the match, Vikki Taylor, dominated in the centre and her distribution play set up Columbines for a number of attacks.

She was well supported by Elaine Morgan at centre back who pushed up to cut out the Exeter counter-attacks.

Exeter were on the back foot from the start and it was not long before Sue Stanbury gave Okehampton the lead.

Alex Collins followed up with two well-taken goals and a fine solo effort from Kelly Cooper gave Columbines a 4-0 lead at half-time.

Okehampton maintained the pressure in the second half although Exeter stepped up a gear. Netty Collett had a strong game at right half and she and Judith Grant linked up well to play the ball out of defence.

Columbines were unlucky to concede an own goal.

Okehampton are away this week to Taw Valley for the final friendly before the start of the league.
