Plym Valley 1

Okehampton 7

OKEHAMPTON were not at their best, but they were too good for this Plym Valley side.

Plym packed their defence, which did curb Okehampton's free-flowing attacking style, but it was not long before Jo Moppett put them ahead from a short corner.

She followed this up a few minutes later with her second when Plym failed to put in a tackle as she surged forward from the halfway line.

A touch of complacency the set in and for the only period of the match Okehampton were on the back-foot and Sophie Whiteley, in goal for Okehampton, had to make several good saves as the ball flew at her from all directions, from then on though, the defence of Carol Taylor, Sandy Douglas, and Jane Jones were swung and did not allow Plym any further chances until they scored a consolation goal at the end of the game, Jo Drake had her usual effective game marking arguably Plym's best player out of the match.

Moppett then scored her third after Jane Jones' skilful flick at goal from a short corner was only half-saved by the goal keeper. Amanda Sim put Okehampton 4-0 up at half-time when she coolly finished off a good passing move.

Okehampton dominated the second half and Kim Davey had another influential game. A beautifully weighted pass from Lesley Bingham set Kim up for her first goal which she rifled into the bottom left hand corner. She then scored again from Jo Moppett's back-pass from the goal-line.

Winnie Rademaker playing her debut game for the first team had a good game with controlled and accurate passing from the midfield, as did Alex Collins her team mate in the middle of the pitch.

In the end this was an easy win for Okehampton, if not for their most stylish, but Plym deserved their consolation goal as they kept playing despite the score.
