Okehampton Columbines 9
Plymouth University 0
SUE Stanbury made a welcome return in midfield where her long passes to the forwards had been missed.
It was her free hit which set up the first goal, scored in the opening 29 seconds.
Okehampton were threatening every time they came forward and Plymouth never had an answer to the pace of Jo Moppett and Kelly Cooper, who scored a hat-trick through her strong individual runs through the centre.
But this was a team effort and Sharon Stephens in goal had to be alert to prevent the Columbines conceding on-the-break goals.
The back three of Debbie Pritchard, Sandy Douglas and Carol Taylor played cohesively to pass the ball out of defence.
Okehampton could have scored more, Moppett hit the woodwork a number of times and had a penalty saved by the University goalkeeper.
But this was a convincing win and should give the Columbines some confidence when they meet Mannamead away at Plymouth this week.
