Okehampton Columbines 5 Tiverton White Eagles 1 A HAT-TRICK for Jo Moppett, a Tiverton own goal and a goal by captain Jo Stephens saw Okehampton cruise to a 5-1 victory. The Okehampton defence held out well to early Tiverton pressure with Rachel Hammett having a good game at right back. Jane Jones and Nettie Collett were solid in the middle and when White Eagles did threaten Claire Smith in goal was equal to it. Moppett opened the scoring with a fine solo run and Columbines were soon 2-0 up when a cross from Moppett was deflected into goal off a White Eagles shot. White Eagles pulled one back with a very well taken goal, but Okehampton were the stronger side and quicker to pick up the loose balls. Sarah Toms, gaining confidence with every game, battled hard at right half and pushed forward at every opportunity. Jo Stephens came on in the second half and had an exceptional game using her pace and hockey skills to set up goalscoring chances finally resulting in a well-taken goal from an acute angle. This week the league starts again and Okehampton are at home to Bude.
