Totnes 3

Okehampton Columbines 4

OKEHAMPTON ladies? hockey team gave a virtuoso display in the first half.

The team played with movement and quick accurate passing which left Totnes reeling.

Carol Taylor at centre back plugged any forward runs by Totnes and Jane Jones and Sue Stanbury dominated the midfield to create opportunities for the Okehampton attack.

Kelly Cooper was sharp through the centre and was rewarded with a brace of goals with Jo Moppett and Viv Weatherington both scoring to put the Columbines 4-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw chances created and missed by the Columbines but they were beginning to tire.

Sharon Parsons had to make a number of important saves in goal, but Totnes? pressure eventually paid off. Having scored one goal, Totnes sensed Okehampton were on the back-foot and scored another two in quick succession to leave a nailbiting finish.

Columbines managed to hang on for a league win.

This week, Okehampton are at home to Tavistock in the league.
