Okehampton Ladies Columbines 2 Plym Vale II 0 RIGHT from the start it was obvious Plym Vale were well coached and disciplined. Okehampton were on the back foot for the first 20 minutes, fighting against well structured play. Close marking by Plym limited Okehampton's attackers. Okehampton's backs did well to keep Plym out, although their goal strikes either missed the shot or were straight at goalie Sophie Whiteley, who managed them with ease. Backs Carol Taylor, Jennie Humphrey and Rachel Hammett covered each other well with a particularly good game from Rachel who was playing out of position. With no score at half-time both sides increased their pace in the second half. Jennie Humphrey and Jane Jones used clearances effectively and a lovely ball from Jones to Jo Moppett, well up in the centre of the pitch, gave Moppett the chance to take it through to score. Much cheered by this lead Okehampton piled on the pressure and some frustration started to show among Plym. Short corners were taken in abundance by both sides. An enthusiastic tackle by a Plym player led to her damaging her face in the collision and having to leave the pitch. Plym had three subs who were constantly changing the playing pattern so they maintained the pressure. A ball into Taylor's cheekbone left her bruised and shaken but she came back on and continued to play in her cool and professional manner. Moppett did another beautiful run to score Okehampton's second and the final score stood at 2-0 – but Okehampton knew that it had been a close run thing.
