CALLINGTON Colts have received a major accolade by winning the Best Sports Club award presented by Pirate FM. The club, which has been going for 17 years, boasts more than 13 teams, covering all the possible age ranges for both boys and girls, and plays on pitches in and around the town. The award was presented by Breakfast Show presenter Bob McCreadie as part of the Stations Best Of Cornwall Awards. The award comes as the club enter the final stages of the competitions in the DJM League. Only two games were played this weekend because of the weather. Another stirring performance came from the U15s who gained a valuable 2-2 draw at Tavistock Thistles. They have moved up to fourth from bottom, following four wins and three draws this season. A great result for the U13 girls who beat AFC Plympton 2-0 with Knighton scoring both. This victory moves them up to fourth in the Vivid B League. The U16 boys had a blank weekend but will be happy with their season so far as they sit third in the league. The U11 boys are also third in their league while the U13 boys are fourth in the Hermes League. Another team still in touch with the leaders in their league are the U11 girls who sit in third with games in hand over the top two. The U15 girls are having a tough season so far and sit third from bottom, while the U12 boys are one place better off in the U12 Vanguard. The final team that competes in a league programme are the U14 boys who are currently third from bottom in the Grenville Division.
