THREE people were injured and another was trapped after a collision between two cars on the A386 between Yelverton and Plymouth on Saturday.

Fire crews from Yelverton and Plympton and the police attended the incident at around 1pm. Two vehicles were involved, resulting in three casualties and one person trapped within one of the vehicles.

The crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to release the casualty.

An 84-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is said to have been in a serious condition.

A burgundy Ford Focus driven by the elderly man was in the collision with a burgundy Fiat Panda being driven by a 61-year-old woman from the Saltash area.
