THIS year's A level results have set a new record for Callington Community College.
Ninety nine percent of students studying for A level examinations, and 100% studying for BTEC qualifications, achieved pass grades and above.
The number of students gaining A level A* and A grades has risen dramatically – a further 8% higher than in 2012.
Seventy percent of students gained three or more A level qualifications. The average points score has risen from 752 to 772 per student. More than 50% of BTEC results were at Distinction or Distinction* level.
The college principal, Gary Lobbett, said: 'I am delighted that our sixth form students have achieved so well.
'It is great to see their delight in these outstanding results.
'Students have committed themselves to their academic studies and have also contributed a great deal to the life of the college and local community.
'Ninety nine percent of university applications have been successful this year; almost every student will study at their first choice of university.
'I am very proud of them all and of the excellent teaching and support teams at the College. Many congratulations to everyone".
The top year 13 performer was Qinglin Li who achieved an incredible three A* grades in mathematics, further mathematics and advanced further mathematics and two A grades in physics and Mandarin plus an A in AS level chemistry.
There were many outstanding performances. Dan Crowle achieved four A grades and Rachel Buxton achieved three A grades, they will be reading Medicine at Cardiff and Bristol respectively.
Becca James gained two A* grades and one B; Joe Gallagher gained one A* and two A grades; Cerys Reading gained one A* and two A grades; Alisdair Gascoyne achieved three A grades and one B; Jasmine Millar achieved A*, A and B grades; Jen Cruise gained two A grades and two B grades and Hattie Evans gained A*, A, B and C. Amelia Jones achieved three A grades and one B; Meg Chaplin gained two A grades and two B grades; Amy Brown achieved three A grades.
Congratulations also to Sam Hill who achieved three 'distinction stars' in his Sport BTEC Extended Diploma qualification.
Many Year 12 students also achieved outstanding results.
Congratulations to Dan Garlick who gained A* in A2 maths and A grade in A2 Spanish plus A grades in AS biology and chemistry.
Natasha Carslaw gained A grade in A2 maths, two A grades and a B grade at AS, Tamsyn Sandy achieved four A grades, Jess Downing gained A* in A2 drama and three A grades at AS level.
