IN the Okehampton and district table tennis league's Pretoria Handicap Cup this week Lewdown were at home to Okehampton College A. Lewdown won the first doubles in three legs — Richard and Martin Rose against Alex Wren and Jeremy Bristow. The college did better in the next two singles, first Richard Mounce beat Richard Rose in a hard fought game winning in straight sets then Alex Wren beat Cath Smith also in straight sets. The college won the next doubles when Richard Mounce and Jeremy Bristow beat Cath Smith and Martin Rose to go 3-1 ahead. Martin Rose won the next singles against Jeremy Bristow and Richard Mounce won the match for the college by beating Cath Smith in three legs after overcoming a large points difference. Richard Rose beat Alex Wren in the last singles but the college won the match 4-3. Both teams have to play Tavistock B in group two.
