BERE Alston coffee morning held on October 5 at the United Reformed Church in aid of the Macmillan Trust was a resounding success. Even though the weather was wet and dismal the atmosphere inside was both cheerful and friendly. Copious amounts of coffee were drunk, together with vast quantities of cakes and other gourmet delights being eaten. On behalf of the Macmillan Trust I would like to thank all those who attended for their support and generosity, and a special thanks to Dorinda Paddon-Hall for arranging all the facilities and her assistants, together with Marion Brown, whose culinary expertise made the mouth-watering food a delight to savour. The amount raised at the coffee morning was a staggering £200.50, and to ?put the icing on the cake? the company that I work for has offered to match this amount, so the total to the Macmillan Trust will be £401. Olga Mann THE Tavistock Support Group for NCH, the children?s charity, would like to thank everyone for their help and support in our street collection in Tavistock on Friday September 29. We raised £316.66. Mrs R Williams Street collection organiser Whitchurch THE 1st Buckland Scouts would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped in any way with their Annual Dung Run last weekend. Local builders merchants donated rubble sacks, a lorry was loaned by a Plymouth Scaffolding firm and parents and friends gave their time to fill bags and to deliver, resulting in a splendid collection of over £900 for scout funds. Thank you also to all the customers for their orders and for the kind tips and offers of refreshments. Sue Jones Assistant Leader
