A COBB house in Sampford Courtenay partially collapsed last Thursday (July 28) after an outside wall subsided.

A gaping hole has been left in the cottage, which is built from a combination of mud and straw. It is not yet known what caused the collapse but heavy rain is suspected.

A fire crew attended the incident just before 3.30pm along with the police who were dealing with traffic control. Highways also attended to clear up the road and Western Power isolated the electricity to the property.

No one was injured in the incident.
