A TWO hour coaching session with England U16 rounders coach Sue Manson brought immediate benefits to the Mount House first team, who applied the lessons well to win two closely contested matches. The coaching covered warming up, catching and fielding drill, and a variety of bowling styles as well as consistency and accuracy in batting. The Mount girls showed how much they had learned when they took on Exeter School in round one of the JET League tournament. Mount House's final innings was just enough to take the match by 13 to 13½. Top scorer was India Leigh with 4½ rounders. The next opponents were Exeter Cathedral School but slack work in the field by Mount during the second innings almost allowed Exeter the match. In the end a good catch by Poppy Hartley and some smart stumping by Fern Toynton saved the day to give Mount House another win.
