TAVISTOCK Football Community welcomed a visit from the Dorset Tesco skills team, when Year 3 and 4 students from a number of primary schools in the borough benefited from professionally coached football sessions from the specialist coaches.

The event was co-ordinated by West Devon Borough Council's football development officer, Neil Jordain.

Youngsters from Tavistock, Milton Abbot, Whitchurch, St Andrews, Princetown, Lamerton and Bere Alston primary schools each enjoyed sessions during the day, with the skills team also working with Tavistock Community Football Club's mini soccer squad during the evening. Coaches from across the county were invited along to the evening event to watch the specialist team at work.

Neil said: 'We are very lucky to have been offered this opportunity to see specialist coaches in action. Devon does not have its own skills team, and fortunately for us, the Dorset team were prepared to come down to Tavistock for the day.

'Everyone who took part had a great time — the youngsters with their footballing skills and the teachers and coaches picking up some very useful tips from the experts.'
