PETER Armstrong, who lives in Walkhampton, is the new President of the Rotary Club of Yelverton for the year 2009/10.

Peter is the vice president of business development for Atlantic Inertial Systems, a high-tech company based in Plymouth and Cheshire CT, USA.

He is also a board member of the West of England Aerospace Forum, a trade association which represents the interests of applicable companies and promotes best practice amongst them.

Prior to moving to the Yelverton area five years ago, Peter had been a leader in the Scout Organisation in Scotland for twenty years.

His interest in young people is continued in his nomination of CHICKS — a local organisation which provides respite breaks for disadvantaged children- as his charity of the year.
