OKEHAMPTON Rotary Club is one of the many Rotary Clubs across the country which have responded to the devastation caused by the recent flooding in central England. Okehampton members have donated £500 to the fund, while nationally, to date, Rotarians have raised more than £80,000. Rotarians in the worse hit areas reacted to the devastation by working with first responders, filling sandbags, distributing bottled water, and helping with essential food supplies and fuel. Kay Bickley, the president of the Okehampton Rotary Club, said: ?I think we all felt helpless when we saw the flooding in the country but know that our donation will help. ?Distributed by Rotary Clubs they will give priority to sustainable community based projects and community recovery activities.? Rotary is open to men and women who are in business or professional or community leaders, who want to use their experience for the benefit of others. Anyone who would like further information on Okehampton Rotary Club should call Kay Bickley on 01837 53743.
