Wadebridge 20 Okehampton Colts 16 BOTH squads showed good skill levels with linked phase play between forwards and backs with a close scoreline throughout the game. The home team opened with a try starting in their own half and finished well by the winger powering through on the overlap, sidestepping the drift defence. Okehampton?s backs worked hard running ball back after Wadebridge kicked deep and using searching chips over the flat defence, chasing up hard to gain territory. The forwards were impressive in both set piece and the loose with excellent suppport. Okehampton closed the gap with 2 penalties from Herrod-Taylor to end the half 7-6. Wadebridge opened the second half with a try from a 5m line out driving the maul over the tryline followed by a penalty to lead 15-6. Okehampton rallied and quick ball stretched the home defence with Herrod-Taylor powering through from a perfect popped pass from Stewart Down. Unable to ground the ball winger Andrew Lewis wrenched the ball free for the try to bring Okehampton within 4 points. Wadebridge then broke free on the blind side with the scrum half racing in for a try. Okehampton kept working hard with Searle leading by example and taking his forwards downfield.
