WHITCHURCH entertained Tavistock in the Tamar Evening League and surprised their close neighbours and rivals with a good win.
Batting first Tavistock never made a start and Riggs (4-27) and Vernon (2-15) made short shrift of the experienced top order. Only Whitcher (19) making any runs as the visitors slumped to 50-5. The tail wagged slightly but a total of 78 all out was well short of par. Whitchurch too lost early wickets but Meadows (14) and Vernon (20) brought victory within sight and Powell saw them over the line.
