THE Pretoria Handicap Cup quarter-final matches in the Okehampton and district Table Tennis League that were played all proved to be close affairs. Oke Young Ones B players Kieran Coyle, Harry Bryant and Ebby Vallance pulled off a superb 3-4 away victory over a strong Okehampton A side. The Oke Young Ones raced into a 3-0 lead leaving Harry Bryant facing Barry Denner to clinch the match. Harry fought hard to win the game 21-17, 18-21, 21-18 to ensure victory and a semi-final place. Okehampton A rallied winning the last three games but it was too little too late.

Anchorage A against Academy A also went to the wire. Level at three games apiece, Bob Vella and Dave Edwards faced Ben Hill and Tom Pengelly in the last decisive doubles. The Anchorage A players eventually took the game 14-21, 21-17, 22-20 to win the match 4-3.

The third match saw Milton Abbot up against Anchorage B. Anchorage B players Dave Wilson, Roger Gilbert and Jenny Gilbert raced into a match winning 4-0 lead before Milton rallied to take the last three games. The 3-4 victory sets up a semi-final between Anchorage A and Anchorage B. Oke Young Ones B will play the winners of Tavistock A and Moretonhampstead.
