Axminster Ladies v Whitchurch Ladies WHITCHURCH Ladies cricket team recently travelled to Axminster and showed good competitive spirit in a close match. The home team batted first with their opening batter Hannah a county player scoring 88 not out. Ang Hunt took the only wicket for Whitchurch, who were unlucky not to take more as there was a lot of swinging and missing especially to the slower bowlers. After 35 overs, Axminster scored 161. The pick of the Whitchurch batters was Lesley Smith who scored 40. Good contributions were also posted by Candy Capeling and Rebecca Snowball. Whitchurch's run rate was greater than Axminster's, but their fall of wickets was higher. Whitchurch were all out in the 23rd over for 151, so lost the match my 10 runs. l Whitchurch Ladies would welcome any new players, no experience is needed. Practice night is Friday from 7pm.
