LEWDOWN Young Farmers caused a splash when they took part in a charity car wash, raising £500 for the Bratton Clovelly Schoolroom project.
The group washed between 40 and 50 cars outside Bratton Clovelly Village Hall.
The Grade II listed schoolroom was built in 1837 to provide education facilities for the children of the parish. More recently it has been used by societies and clubs, but in 2005 it was closed because it was deemed unsafe, meaning local groups had to find alternative accommodation.
The campaign to bring the hall back to life involves raising £15,000 to refurbish it.
