RECENTLY a group of 30 Tavistock College students travelled to the Japanese Embassy in London.

The Year 8 students (pictured above) were invited to take part in a variety of cultural activities and to use their Japanese language skills.

Students had the opportunity to try Japanese calligraphy, make several origami items, learn about contemporary Japan and Japanese youth culture.

They were then able to try on Japanese clothes.

Trip leader, Sally Benson, said: 'This was an amazing opportunity for our students, many of whom had not been to London before. Staff at the Embassy introduced various aspects of Japanese culture.

'It made the classroom learning come to life.'
