TAVISTOCK Area Support Services (TASS) has had a cash boost of more than £100 from a donation of classical LPs.
A pair of classical music LPs donated to TASS recently sold at auction on Ebay for more than £138.
The records, nearly 60 years old, featured pianist Rosalyn Tureck playing Bach's Goldberg Variations.
Volunteer Terry Hyde, who looks after the music donations for TASS as well as for Operation Sunshine South West and the National Trust Bookshop at Buckland Abbey, said: 'I've been doing this kind of work for about 10 years and the thousands of records that have been donated or that I have sourced from car-boots etc, these were the first that I have seen by Tureck.
'As soon as I saw them, I knew that we might be on to something good.
'In this market, quality is key and the bonus here was that both discs were in excellent condition.
'This is easily the best result that TASS has had so far in selling recorded music and it will greatly benefit the elderly people of Tavistock.'
After 15 bids, mostly from the Far East, the records sold to a collector in China, who also bought another TASS LP of classical music for more than £100.
