Tavistock Colts 5 Devonport Services Colts 22 TAVISTOCK put out their strongest side of the season against the strongest Colts side in Devon and a pulsating match resulted. Watched by a large crowd, the match was a hard battle for both sides with no quarter given and none asked but played in good spirit throughout. Services opened the scoring with a penalty for offside at the ruck. The visitors added two converted tries before half time through a crash ball at centre then a sweeping move to put the right wing over in the corner. Tavistock missed a penalty for lying on the ball in the ruck. The second half belonged to Tavistock and, despite playing uphill, restricted the opposition to one try through the left wing but replied with their own try after the forwards recycled the ball several times to set up a driving maul on the right wing 22 metre line. The ball came to right winger Braithwaite and he seized his opportunity to crash over. All 17 players involved were outstanding but the man of the match award went to second row Ben Walshe for a tireless display in the loose, close support play and excellent lineout ball.
