Okehampton Columbines 6

POOR defending cost Okehampton a goal in the opening few minutes but they were soon on equal terms when Jo Moppett scored after a storming solo effort from the halfway line.

From then on, Okehampton dominated with good hockey skills and five runs by their three young forwards Moppett, Kelly Cooper and Sarah Toms, who between them scored the goals with a deserved hat-trick from Moppett.

Jo Stephens and Sue Stanbury had the middle covered, and Chudleigh found it difficult to break through with Elaine Morgan, Judith Grant and

Carol Taylor all intercepting well.

Columbines tired towards the end and Claire Smith in goal had to be alert to ensure a comfortable win for Okehampton.

This week the Columbines are back in league action with a tough home fixture against Marjons 2.
