P&D Premier League

Tavistock 2nds 2

Plymouth Civil Service 0

PLAYING a different system of five at the back to accommodate the attacking force of last season's champions, Tavistock looked rather uneasy for the first 15 minutes, but soon got into their winning stride.

Tavistock's defence, including the ever reliable Howells in goal, were again on top form and dealt with everything the visitors threw at them.

The first half ended scoreless but the few chances that were produced came from the home side.

With Hawkins and Brook both working hard the breakthrough in the second half was inevitable and on 65 minutes sub Steve Daymond scored a spectacular goal from an acute angle.

Hawkins added a second, his sixth goal in four games, when he calmly brought the ball down on the edge of the area and scored to keep Tavistock on top of the league with a game in hand.

This Saturday's fixture is still to be arranged.
