THE mayor of Tavistock welcomed Japanese students, currently visiting the town as part of Tavistock College's exchange programme, by holding an official town reception.

Mayor David Whitcomb met the students for a light lunch in the town hall, to welcome them to Tavistock.

Town crier David Turner also attended the reception to give a speech about the town.

The Japanese students presented the mayor with a gift, and the mayor returned the favour by giving each student a small keepsake of their time in Tavistock.
