THE most controversial comedy show of 2006 is coming to Exeter! Never in the history of British stand-up comedy has a show's title ever caused so much uproar as in the case of Britain's most provocative comedian Reginald D Hunter's latest offering, Pride and Prejudice and Niggas. Then again, it is almost just as rare for a one-man comedy show to be the critics' choice of seven major British newspapers in the first week of its run. At the end of last year, weeks before its London premiere, posters for Pride and Prejudice and Niggas were banned on London Underground because of fears that the word 'Niggas' might cause offence. However, in spite of the heated debates, the show sold out in no time and received unanimous rave reviews. Reginald D Hunter won the prestigious 'Writers Guild Award for Comedy' in 2006. Stand-up comedian Sarah Millican, who is supporting Hunter on tour, won the Amused Moose Comedy Award in 2005, the year in which she also became the runner-up to the winner of the BBC New Comedy Awards.
