CHURCHES in Okehampton will be fully engaging in the week of Christian Unity this month.
The week is celebrated between January 18 and 25 each year and encourages churches of all denominations to work together.
On Sunday January 16 many of the churches will be exchanging minister, and on Sunday January 22, a combined service of all the Okehampton churches, under the banner of Christians together in Okehampton, will be held at Fairplace Church. The service will begin at 6.30pm. This will be the last combined service for two of Okehampton's church ministers, as Rev Lynne Burgon from All Saints Parish Church and Rev Darren Pike from Okehampton Baptist Church will shortly be taking up posts in other areas.
During the week of Christian Unity a daily time of reflection will be held at St James Chapel at 10am each day. The services will last for half an hour and will be led by a different minister each day.
For 2011, the Rev Stephen Cook will become the chairman of Christians Together in Okehampton, and the Rev Phillip Wagstaff will be the vice chairman.
