CHURCHES in Okehampton will continue to work together, that was the promise of the newly-appointed chairman of Christians Together in Okehampton.
The group appointed their new chairman, Mike Davies, senior minister at Inspiration ? Church of the Nations, at a recent meeting.
Mike replaces David Waters from New Life Church, who held the position for the previous three years.
Christians Together in Okehampton consists of the member churches of All Saints Parish Church, St Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Fairplace Methodist and United Reformed Church, The Salvation Army, Okehampton Baptist Church, Inspiration ? Church of the Nations, and New Life ? Assemblies of God.
Mike said: ?It is still early days and it will take a while to find my feet. The churches in Okehampton work well together although with our different types of worship and services it is challenging for us all.
?Within Okehampton we have a great spirit of friendship and it is good to see so many of our local churches working together, each offering its own individuality and strength.?
Okehampton?s church ministers gather every Wednesday morning to pray for the town and local issues.
As well as being the new chairman of Christians Together in Okehampton, Mike is also an Okehampton town councillor and sits on the South West branch committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
He is partly employed by the church and runs his own taxation practice.
