BOOKS written by a doctor in the late 1970s who now lives in Tavistock are to re-published as e-books. Dr R A Cooper was a GP in the 1950s and 60s. However, his real ambition had always been writing. Dr Cooper's dreams came to fruition in 1961 when, finally, he had his first two scripts accepted for broadcast by the BBC, and the rest, as they say, is history. He went on to have a successful radio and writing career and in 1966, he released his first book: 'ABC of Family Health' which lead to further publications. Then in the late 1970s, after 15 years of trying, he had his Dr Clifford books published. Through his work he had compiled a selection of humorous and intriguing anecdotes, and put them to paper to form this series of twelve fantastic reads. The books went on to be national and international best sellers, with seven translations and 27 re-prints. These stories are once again being brought to life as e-books, in 'The Dr Clifford Chronicles'. With the help of The Little Brown Book Group, the first audio book, 'Just Here, Doctor', was released on August 28 and they will continue to run weekly, for twelve weeks. Although Dr Cooper has only been a resident of Tavistock for five years, it is an area that has always been close to his heart. He said 'I have always loved the area! For twenty years I stayed, from time to time, in Dousland, Yelverton, where my wife was brought up in her early years.' Search 'The Dr Clifford Chronicles' in your internet search engine and enjoy this charming series of books.
