FIREFIGHTERS from Okehampton and Chagford were called out on Christmas Day to deal with a chimney fire in a cottage between Throwleigh and Wonson.
Station officer Ian Donovan of Okehampton said two appliances were taken to deal with the blaze as a precautionary measure, because the cottage roof was thatched. The fire was contained to the chimney and did not spread.
The crews were also called out on Christmas Eve to attend a road traffic accident on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Whiddon Down.
One car was involved in the accident — no-one was seriously hurt.
