THE VICE chairman of Tavistock Swimming Club has turned his hand to cycling and will ride from London to Paris for the second time this year for charity.
Chris Anderson, 59, who is a masters swimmer and retired nuclear engineer, raised £1,400 for Practical Action — a charity that uses technology to challenge poverty — when he completed the 300 mile route in July.
Following this success Mr Anderson said he had decided to 'punish his body again' and was repeating his London to Paris challenge on September 21-24, this time to raise money for Devon-based charity SIFT (Seed International Fund Trust), for whom he is a trustee.
SIFT is working with the poor of Nicaragua to help them find their own way out of poverty in primary healthcare, supporting children (both education and orphanages), providing homes and combating malnutrition.
