Kelly Choral Society is welcoming everyone to its performance of J S Bach's Christmas Oratorio next week at Tavistock's St Eustachius' Church.
Kelly College's director of music and conductor, Andrew Wilson, will present an evening featuring a collection of six Lutheran Church Cantatas.
The first of these was performed at the morning service at St Thomas' Church, Leipzig, where Bach was the Cantor, on Christmas Day 1734.
The remaining five cantatas were performed on the second and third days following Christmas, on New Year's Day, the first Sunday after New Year and on the feast of the epiphany.
The concert will present a selection of the finest choruses, arias and chorales from the work, and joining the Kelly Choral Society will be mezzo-soprano Helen Dixon, Ian Hardy on bass, organist Mary Mazur-Park and the Four Seasons String Quartet.
The performance will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 7.45pm.
