YOUNG music lovers are in for a treat this summer, when folk and community arts development charity Wren Music present a summer music club in Okehampton.
The fun-filled five days of music and song has been specially designed to appeal to young people from eight to 18 years old.
The morning and afternoon sessions will cater for all levels of ability, including those with no previous experience of singing or playing, and all instruments are welcome.
The event is not a competition and there will be no auditions and no sight-reading of music.
There will also be a wide choice of instruments and percussion available for those who do not have their instruments.
Alongside learning new music, writing songs and tunes, the sessions will provide an opportunity to explore working creatively with others, and offer a chance to make new friends.
The club, which will be led by David Faulkner and Sarah Owen from Wren Music, will be rounded off with an informal performance for parents and friends.
'Showing Share Show' will encourage all participants to join in and take their first steps towards playing in public.
The sessions will be held on Monday, August 9 to Friday, August 13 from 10am until 3.30pm in Fairplace Church Hall.
Participants are asked to bring along a packed lunch and soft drinks will be provided.
Wren Music expressed thanks to Devon County Council and Arts Council England South West for all their support.
The week will cost £75, with a concessionary rate of £30 for children whose parents are full-time students or in receipt of income-related benefits.
All week fees for further children from the same family are only £45 full, or £15 concessions.
Daily attendance from Monday to Thursday is possible, but Friday must be booked with at least one other day.
Fees per day cost £20, with a concessionary rate of £10.
The daily cost for further children from the same family is £12 full, or £5 concessions.
Places at the Okehampton Summer Music Club are limited, so booking in advance is strongly recommended.
