THE Children's Hospice South West is to open a new shop in Tavistock —at 11 West Street. The charity store will open its doors to the public tomorrow (Friday).  CHSW supporters the mayor of West Devon Terry Pearce and head chef and co-owner of the Horn of Plenty, Peter Gorton, will officially open the shop at 10am. The new charity shop is the fourth to open in Devon — others are at Plymouth, Barnstaple and Exeter. It will sell clothes, books, CDs, DVDs, electrical items, toys and more to help raise funds for the CHSW Precious Lives Appeal to build a new children's hospice for the region.  CHSW already runs two special hospices —Little Bridge House in North Devon and Charlton Farm in Somerset — and plans to build a third in mid-Cornwall.  This much needed third hospice will help bring the charity's service nearer to life-limited children and their families in the Plymouth area and offer more choice to families across the South West.  CHSW regional retail manager Sharon Elliott said: 'We are delighted to be opening a shop in Tavistock.  'It will be a place where people can learn more about the service we provide to families across the region and events that are taking place in the local area as well as purchase goods to help raise money for a worthy cause.' Donations of items for sale are being accepted directly at the shop between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.  The new shop will rely heavily on volunteers who give up their time to help out in a variety of ways such as working on the tills, sorting and steaming clothes, and window dressing. If you are interested in volunteering please contact CHSW Tavistock shop manager, Sarah Taylor at the shop on 01822 614888 from tomorrow.  Or call in at the shop at 11am tomorrow and discuss volunteering opportunities with Sarah at a special coffee morning.  An electrical pat tester is also required, as the shop will be selling electrical goods, so please contact Sarah if you are interested in this position.
