EXETER Northcott has a real treat lined up for this week, a show that will appeal to all generations. Goodnight Mr Tom, a musical version of the classic, much loved children's story set during World War II, runs from Saturday April 12 to 19. The production is staged by the Northcott Young Company (NYC) and Northcott Community Company (NCC). Mr Tom is played by Exeter resident David Youll, who has appeared in many productions for amateur groups such as the Exeter Amateur Operatic Society, Exeter Musical Comedy Society and Torquay Operatic and Amateur Dramatic Society. This is his first appearance for the NCC. William Beech, the young evacuee who leaves a loveless home in London to stay with Mr Tom, is played by eleven year old Tom Stokes from Tipton St John. This is Tom's first appearance with the Northcott Young Company, and he says he was thrilled to get the part and has thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and being a member of the cast. The script and lyrics for the show were written by the author of the original novel, Michelle Magorian. She has worked with director Rachel Vowles on this production, and will be coming to see a performance, with her son. She will be available in the Exeter Northcott foyer to sign copies of her novel Goodnight Mr Tom at 6.30pm on Friday April 18 and at 1.30pm on Saturday April 19. Tickets, priced from £6 to £17 and half price for under 16s, are available on 01392 493493 and online at http://www.exeternorthcott.co.uk">www.exeternorthcott.co.uk
