LIFTON Community Primary recently hosted a two-day art workshop for groups of pupils from Boasley Cross, Bridestowe, Lewtrenchard, Lydford and St Giles on the Heath primary schools.
Under the guidance of artist Sadie Medway, an advisor for 'The Colours of Devon — Heaven in Devon' project, the children worked collaboratively on six large canvases. The vibrantly coloured paintings depict their interpretations of the local landscape.
Four were designed to be viewed both as a combined artwork and singly; the other two were stand-alone pictures.
The four linked canvases will be displayed on one of the pillars in Exeter Cathedral, as will other similar works from schools all over Devon, together with all the paintings created for this project.
Kui Holmes, headteacher at Lifton Primary, said: 'It was great to see the children from six schools working together so well. Sadie Medway was an inspiration to them and they learnt so much from her, as well as having great fun.
'We are all so proud of the wonderful paintings they have produced.'
The art workshops are part of series of 'gifted and talented' collaborations at Lifton Primary to enhance and showcase the abilities and achievements of different groups of pupils with varying abilities and talents.
The exhibition in Exeter Cathedral runs from June 1 to June 7 — proceeds from the exhibition and an auction of donated pieces of work will be given to schools in Africa, Sri Lanka and India.
