Okehampton Library has established a 'Read to a Dog' session to encourage children and teenagers to read.
On Tuesdays, from 3:45 to 4:45pm, children and teenagers can read to Rafa, a registered therapy dog.
Research has shown that reading to animals can significantly benefit children who struggle with reading, are anxious about reading aloud, or lack self-confidence.
Booking is essential, and each reading session lasts 15 minutes.
